Research-Backed Methodology
It doesn't take a genius to figure out that a human being will learn better in a 1:1 setting than in a classroom setting.
Nonetheless, here is a genius that studied just how how much more effectively you can learn in 1:1 lessons than in classrooms:
Dr. Benjamin Bloom at the University of Chicago observed in a research study that students who receive 1:1 tutoring perform two standard deviations better than those in traditional classroom settings. Students achieved better understanding and retention of material, leading to higher grades and improved confidence. 1:1 tutoring offers personalized instruction tailored to the specific needs of the student. This individualized approach leads to better academic outcomes, as it allows the tutor to focus on the student's unique learning style and pace.

This personalized methodology enhances cognitive engagement, facilitates deep learning, and promotes efficiency in both team and workplace settings, as substantiated by extensive research in education and neuroscience.
1:1 Learning Enhances Cognitive Efficiency
Customized instruction aligns with individual learning styles and paces, optimizing engagement and retention. Neuroscience research indicates that such tailored teaching reduces cognitive load, streamlining information processing and enabling students to concentrate on applying concepts rather than merely understanding them.
Dr. Kurt VanLehn, a professor at Arizona State University, in his 2011 study The Relative Effectiveness of Human Tutoring, Intelligent Tutoring Systems, and Other Tutoring Systems, found that human tutoring had the highest impact on learning outcomes (effect size: 0.79) due to its personalization and immediate feedback. Intelligent Tutoring Systems (ITS) showed moderate success (0.33), while Computer-Aided Instruction (CAI) had a smaller effect (0.20). Small group tutoring matched ITS at 0.32 but offered less impact than individualized feedback. Traditional classroom instruction served as the baseline (0.00). VanLehn’s findings confirm individualized human tutoring as the gold standard for maximizing learning outcomes.
Enhanced Neural Engagement
Bilingualism engages the prefrontal cortex, which plays a crucial role in executive functions such as attention, decision-making, and problem-solving. The process of managing multiple languages enhances cognitive flexibility, allowing individuals to more effectively switch between tasks, manage competing demands, and adapt to new information—skills that are essential for efficiency in dynamic work environments.
Dr. Jubin Abutalebi and Dr. David W. Green investigated how bilingualism influences neural efficiency in regions associated with language control in their research titled “Bilingualism and the Brain: Cognitive Control and Adaptation." They found that regular bilingual language use enhances neural efficiency in key areas associated with cognitive control, including the dorsal anterior cingulate cortex (dACC), pre-supplementary motor area (pre-SMA), left prefrontal cortex, and left caudate nucleus. Their study shows that engaging these brain regions through bilingualism strengthens cognitive flexibility and adaptability.
Strengthening Social and Workplace Skills
Language learning fosters interpersonal connections which are vital for workplace cohesion. Through interactive role-playing and customized exercises, students engage in real-world scenarios, thereby improving their communication, empathy, and teamwork skills.
Dr. Xinjie Chen and Dr. Amado M. Padilla, in their 2019 study Role of Bilingualism and Biculturalism as Assets in Positive Psychology: Conceptual Dynamic GEAR Model, explored the benefits of bilingualism and biculturalism on individual well-being. They proposed the GEAR model, which categorizes these benefits into four dimensions: psychological Growth, cognitive Exploration, linguistic Awareness, and social Reinforcement. The model highlights that bilingual and bicultural experiences enhance social reinforcement, leading to improved social cognition and adaptability. Their findings suggest that cultivating bilingual experiences foster better collaboration in diverse teams, as bilingual individuals are more adept at navigating multiple cultural contexts and communication styles.
